A surprising number of monthly reports are the same three steps every time: pull numbers from two or three places, paste them into a template, and reformat until it looks right. That is not reporting, it is copying, and copying is exactly the kind of work that should not need a person.
Once the underlying data lives in one place and is entered once, producing the report is usually a matter of a scheduled export in the format the reader expects. The person who used to spend two days a month building it can spend that time reading it instead.
Where we start
We build the report from whichever system already holds the data, rather than adding a new one to feed it. The report generates itself; the person only has to notice if a number looks wrong.
